Port Perry Santa Claus Parade

The 2009 parade was held Saturday, Nov 28th. We felt this was our best yet and had many positive comments.
Thanks to the large group of Knights and their kids for helping in this year's build.

Thanks to the Youth group for walking with the float and collecting goods for babies and new moms.
The 2008 version took place Saturday, Nov 29th - The Theme: "An Old Tyme Christmas"
Our KofC float won the "most detailed float" this year!
(Keep in mind there were almost 70 entries in the parade).

The 2007 edition was held Saturday, Nov 24th - The Theme: "The Gift of Giving"
This year's float featured 3 kings baring golden gifts approaching the manger with baby Jesus. The largest was over eight feet high! Within the manger (with a star high above) we had eight Knight's children and grand children sing Christmas songs lead by Rory Taillon on his guitar. Our "Keep Christ in Christmas" banner was proudly hung on the front of the wagon.

Each fall a small group from Council 8951 headed by brother Gord Odrowski quietly plans and works on the Knights of Columbus float in the annual Port Perry Santa Claus Parade. This event is one of the largest gatherings in Port Perry drawing thousands and thousands of spectators who line the downtown streets. It gives us great exposure in our community.
The Parade went "after dark" years ago and has become ever more popular. The Knights float sported a six foot wide "Keep Christ in Christmas" banner across the front of the hay wagon donated, as always each year, by George & Barb Vestarega. George also donates his huge barn for weeks ahead of the late November parade day so we can work inside. Thank you George.
In 2007 we were pleased to have Rory Taillon return again to sing and play Christmas songs along with a number of Knight children and grand-children. We know Rory is popular by the sequels from the girls lining the route. Thousands of chocolate treats were handed out by Knights Dave Robertson, John Brock and Gord Odrowski all on foot. Brian Kavanagh got to driver the John Deere.
Additional thanks to Brother Knights: Elio Romano, Bob Rogers, Ludger Kenny, Paul Robinet, John Peco and Richard Mouflier for their work and donations to the float. We had lots of nice comments.
